Más del 90% de las empresas tecnológicas que conocemos se han encontrado con esta vicisitud: he logrado un producto – testado o no- en un tiempo récord y prácticamente sin dinero, pero ahora no tengo “gasolina” .financiación- para poder monetizarlo. Esta empresa ha entrado en el valle de la muerte.

¿Por qué el Valle de la Muerte?

Además de teóricamente ser el lugar más caluroso del planeta, en términos empresariales significa el momento en el cual la empresa ya no dispone de fondos financieros para poder continuar con la finalización del producto o servicio, testeo o despliegue del mismo. Es decir, un lugar donde se siente frío, no calor.

¿Cómo hemos llegado hasta aquí? Generalmente la pasión por el desarrollo de la idea que hemos tenido hace que nos lancemos sin ningún tipo de previsión ni planificación de la financiación a la materialización de los conceptos que obsesivamente se reproducen en nuestra mente. Podemos dormir tres horas al día si tenemos conceptos de programación, o no dejar dormir al amiguete de turno que hará el desarrollo para ti a cambio de un porcentaje de las participaciones de tu start up. O bien, si tienes la suerte de tener una empresa ya en funcionamiento, destinar parte del equipo de programación pagándose con ingresos de otras líneas de negocio menos “molonas” pero que en su momento lo fueron y ahora generan algo de cash – o “catch” como dicen algunos-.  Hasta aquí todo bien.

Pero llega el momento en que esa idea ya está preparada para recorrer mundo y hay que empezar a difundirla,  a darla a conocer a potenciales early adopters o influencers, a recorrerse todos los eventos de la ciudad y alrededores para contarle al mundo la buena nueva, a generar interés en redes o posicionarla en buscadores y…no tenemos un clavo – en realidad no lo hemos tenido nunca si es el primero de los casos del párrafo anterior. O bien si ya dispones de una empresa en funcionamiento llega un momento que el socio de turno empieza a mostrarse nervioso porque el equipo de desarrollo lleva demasiado tiempo en el proyecto y han bajado lo ingresos – o los recursos son necesarios para otros proyectos que han entrado y dan rentabilidad desde el minuto uno- y por tanto debe lanzarse a monetizar la idea desde ya o paralizarla.

Aquí llega el frío

Inmediatamente nuestra mente comienza a trabajar al 200%, pero ésta vez para buscar una solución para que nuestro brillante producto no se quede en el limbo atestado de soluciones del Valle de la Muerte.

¿qué podemos hacer? En este caso todos los coach que te encuentres te dirán que se dé entrada a un tercero. Un Angel o un fondo tecnológico que alegremente inyectarán de cien mil a un millón de euros para que puedas gastártelos en tu inexistente/incongruente/incomprensible – desde el punto de vista del inversor – plan de marketing.

Sentimos decir que no es tan fácil.

Después de varios ejercicios (desde 2012) donde se ha apostado por una infinidad de ideas cada cual más exótica, los inversores han retrocedido varios pasos y muchos de ellos exigen una tracción (las ventas de toda la vida, y recurrentes a poder ser). ¿Ventas? ¡¡¡Pero si justamente necesito los fondos para iniciar las ventas!!!. Algunos de ellos pueden incluso ver que, con tus recursos, has iniciado algunas acciones que próximamente se traducirán el ventas. Dispones de clientes interesados y muchos están a punto de la firma. Entonces, y sólo entonces, es posible que aporten. O puede ser que tengas una o varias líneas de ingreso recurrentes, con cierta rentabilidad, y el inversor ha visto que sabes de qué va esto y que efectivamente necesitas una aportación importante que de otro modo haría que se retrasase el despliegue y te adelantase la competencia. Entonces sí es posible que haya un desembolso importante. Pero si no tienes histórico o tus otras líneas dan una rentabilidad exigua, es mejor no perder el tiempo.

¿Entonces qué podemos hacer? en busca de financiación

Y ahí es donde queríamos entrar desde el principio. Existen una cantidad de ayudas importante a nivel nacional, autonómico e incluso local. Y si tu proyecto es Top, entonces hasta a nivel europeo. Lo difícil es conocerlas todas y saber dónde aplicarlas. Pero para esto estamos nosotros.

Sin duda ante una idea inicial lo mejor es buscar la financiación para el desarrollo del producto. Bien gestionada puede incluso ayudar a la generación de recursos para las acciones de marketing y ventas posteriores. Ahí es donde podemos ayudarte.
